157 Battalion CRPF Conducts 10-Km Marathon in Churachandpur

The 157 Battalion CRPF successfully conducted a 10-kilometre marathon event under the Khelo India “Sports for Peace and Development” initiative in Churachandpur district of Manipur.

Arun Kumar, Commandant, 157 Battalion CRPF, and Lawrence Munluo, Additional Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, jointly flagged off the race and graced the occasion at Peace Ground, Tuibong.

A total of 432 participants aged 18 years and above took part in the race.

The marathon witnessed an enthusiastic response from the youth and local community. A large number of participants took part with great energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.

The objective of organising the marathon was to encourage youth to participate in sports and physical activities and to promote the values of fitness, healthy living, discipline, peace, unity, and social harmony.

The event also aimed to strengthen ties between the CRPF and the local community, thereby promoting peace and development in the region.

Speaking to the media, Arun Kumar, Commandant, 157 Battalion CRPF, said that the event was very fruitful for society and was organised to promote development and peace in the state as well as in the district.

In the marathon, Moilunlal won the race with a timing of 39 minutes and 10 seconds. Letminthang Haokip secured second position with a timing of 39 minutes and 50 seconds, while LC Ramdinsang and Manglalmapui jointly secured third position with a timing of 41 minutes and 26 seconds.

Cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 6,000, and Rs. 4,000 were awarded to the first-, second-, and third-position holders, respectively. T-shirts, medals, and certificates were also presented to the participants as tokens of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation.
